Wedding season is upon us, and that means that countless beautiful brides will be walking the aisle and saying “I do”! Wedding photos are the best way to document every moment of your big day, but why not get creative with them? Everyone loves a good ‘gazing into each other’s eyes as the sun sets’ shot, but if you like to be a little out of the box, here are a few ways to elevate your wedding photography for your special day.
Out of the Box Poses
Photos with the wedding party can sometimes feel a little monotonous. Line up and smile! Well, if you have any fun or silly poses you want to incorporate into your shoot, group photos may be the best time to pull them out. It is an awesome way to get everyone moving and having a good time while also capturing awesome memories.
Black and white with a pop of color
If you are creative with photo editing you may be able to do this on your own or you can have your wedding photographer do it. Black and white photos add a certain ambience to photos and makes them so serene and beautiful. By adding a pop of color to your black and white photos it keeps the serene mood of the picture while also giving it multidimensional feeling. Using color on your flowers is a beautiful way to incorporate this effect into your photography!
Aerial Photography
If you have any drdrone enthusiasts in your family have them bring theirs along. If you have the ability to get aerial photography at your wedding that is an opportunity you should not pass up! Aerial photography provides amazing perspective to your entire wedding. If you can get video footage, that’s even better! You can not only capture photos of your friends and family, but you can also get footage of your entire venue and everyone having a great time at your wedding! It is definitely a great way to literally elevate your wedding photos.
Photo booth
Having a photo booth at your wedding is so much fun for you and your guests. You can put out some wacky glasses and let your guests have a good time. You can capture moments of yourself at your wedding and also be able to see that everyone else was having a good time, as well. People tend to open up in front of the camera when they are in larger groups, so a photo booth gives people the opportunity to be silly and have a good time. If buying a photo booth isn’t in your budget there are creative way to make your own photo booth as well!
Polaroid Pictures
If you leave a couple of Polaroid cameras next you your guest book or a cork board, guests will be able to take a photo, leave you a note, and add it to your book or collage. This is a nice change from the typical guest book and once again you get your guests involved in the picture taking process so it is fun for everyone! After everyone adds their photo you get a cool piece of memorabilia and a lot of lovely notes from friends and family on your wedding day!
Selfie Stick!
I love the idea of using a selfie stick at your wedding. Your photographer won’t be around you 24/7 to capture every moment, so carrying a selfie stick around to get awesome group photos can be a great way to document memories and have a fun time doing it. If you personally don’t want to carry a selfie stick around you can always leave a couple out for friends and family to use while you are making your rounds.
These are just a few of the fun options you have to elevate your wedding photography. Of course, you want to make sure you are having an awesome time on your day and the wonderful photos will come naturally. I hope this helps you to get your ideas flowing so you can capture beautiful and unique memories on your big day! What other ways would you elevate your wedding photography?
