Every year, many new cricketers debut in international cricket. Some of them get a chance to play cricket on the international level and represent their nation. Some old cricket players also retire after playing for years for their countries. 1. Dawid Malan (all formats)
Dawid Malan started his international cricket career in June 2017 and announced his retirement from international cricket on August 28, 2024. Dawid Malan, England’s former No. 1-ranked T20Is batter. He has announced his retirement from all international cricket formats at the age of 37. He has impressive records across formats: 1,074 runs, one century, 9 fifties in 22 Tests, 1,450 runs, six hundred, seven fifties in 30 ODIs, and 1,892 runs, one century, 16 fifties in 62 T20Is.
2. Moeen Ali (All formats)
Moeen Ali announced his retirement from international cricket on 8 September 2024. Moeen Ali did not get picked for the Australia series and other future assignments. This belief forced him to take retirement from all the cricket formats. Lastly, he played ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 for England. He made his international debut in February 2014 against West Indies. Moeen Ali played 68 test matches, scored 3094 runs, hit 5 centuries & 14 fifties, and his highest score in Tests is 155. He has taken 204 wickets in test cricket. He played 129 ODI matches, scored 2,220 runs, hit 3 centuries, and 6 fifties, and his highest score in Tests is 128. He has taken 99 wickets in test cricket. Moeen played 74 T20I matches, scored 1,051 runs, 1 century & 5 fifties, taken 42 wickets, and the highest score in T20Is is 66.
3. Virat Kohli (T20Is)
Virat Kohli plays for the Indian cricket team. After winning the T20 World Cup in Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 29, 2024, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from the T20Is format. Virat Kohli played 125 T20Is, 117 innings, and scored 4,188 runs with an average of 49, 1 century (100s), 38 fifties, and 122 highest score. Virat Kohli made a major contribution to winning T20 cricket matches for an Indian cricket team.
4. Rohit Sharma (T20Is)
Rohit Sharma made his T20Is debut for India on September 19, 2007. Rohit is the highest run scorer in most centuries and most sixers in T20I cricket. He is the only Indian player to have won two T20 World Cups, first in 2007 as a player and then in 2024 as the captain. Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20Is on June 29, 2024, after leading India to their second T20 World Cup title. Rohit Sharma played 159 T20Is, 151 innings, and scored 4,231 runs with an average of 32, 5 centuries (100s), 32-fifties, and 121 highest score.
5. Ravindra Jadeja (T20Is)
Ravindra Jadeja also announced on 30 June 2024 that he will not play T20Is. He is an exceptional all-around player—batter, bowler, and fielder. Ravindra Jadeja played 74 T20Is, 41 innings, and scored 515 runs with an average of 21, 0 century (100s), 0-fifty (50s), and 46 highest score. He was also a bowler who took 54 wickets.
6. James Anderson (All formats)
James Anderson began playing cricket on December 15, 2002, with his ODI debut against Australia and his Test debut against Zimbabwe on May 22, 2003. He retired from international cricket on July 12, 2024. Known primarily for his exceptional bowling, James Anderson played 19 T20I matches, took 18 wickets in 19 innings, and gave runs 552 with an economy of 7.84 and the best balling score of 3/23.
7. Trent Boult (T20Is)
The New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket. Trent Boult balls very well and is a wicket-taking baller. and James Anderson matches played: 61 T20Is, wickets taken: 83 wickets, runs given: 1,928 runs, economy rate: 8.00, and best bowling figures: 4/34. Trent Boult, the left-arm fast-medium bowler from New Zealand, has had an impressive career in T20 Internationals (T20Is).
8. Dinesh Karthik (all formats)
Dinesh Karthik started his cricket career at a young age and debuted for the Indian national team in 2004. Over his career, Dinsesh played in all three cricket formats. In Test cricket, he scored 1,025 runs with one century and seven fifties, with a highest score of 129. In ODIs, he accumulated 1,752 runs, including nine fifties, with a top score of 79. In T20Is, he scored 672 runs with one fifty and a highest score of 55. Karthik retired from international cricket on June 1, 2024. His contributions to Indian cricket, especially as a wicketkeeper-batsman, will be always remembered.
9. Shikhar Dhawan (all formats)
Shikhar Dhawan is a dominant Indian cricketer. He began his international career in 2010 with an ODI debut against Australia. Known for his aggressive batting style, Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is before announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket on August 24, 2024. Over his career, he amassed 2,315 runs in Tests, 6,793 runs in ODIs, and 1,759 runs in T20Is. Dhawan’s highest scores were 190 in Tests, 143 in ODIs, and 92 in T20Is. He also achieved 7 centuries and 5 fifties in Tests, 17 centuries and 39 fifties in ODIs, and 11 fifties in T20Is. Currently, he is enjoying his life with his wife, kids, and family.
10. Dean Elgar (all formats)
Dean Elgar made his international debut in 2012, playing both ODIs and Tests. Elgar retired from international cricket on 3 January 2024. In Test cricket, he scored 5,347 runs, including 14 centuries and 23 fifties, with a highest score of 199. His ODI career was brief, with 104 runs in 8 matches and a top score of 42. Elgar did not play in T20 internationals.
11. David Warner (all formats)
Australian batter David Warner has also retired from all formats of cricket after Australia’s elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024. David Warner is one of Australia’s openers and known for his aggressive batting style. David started playing on January 11, 2009. He has completed over 17,778 runs across all formats, including 46 international centuries (25 in Tests, 20 in ODIs, and 1 in T20Is). His highest scores are 335* in Tests, 179 in ODIs, and 100 in T20Is.
12. Heinrich Klaasen (all formats)
Heinrich Klaasen, the South African wicketkeeper-batter, announced his retirement from Test cricket on January 8, 2024. He is known for his aggressive and skillful batting style. Heinrich Klaasen has impressive records across formats. In ODIs, he boasts 1,723 runs with a high score of 174. In T20Is, he has 912 runs, and in Tests, he has 104 runs. His IPL performance includes 993 runs.
13. Neil Wagner (tests)
New Zealander Neil Wagner is known for his fast and aggressive bowling styles. He is a left-arm fast bowler who retired from international cricket on February 27, 2024. He played 64 test matches for New Zealand and took 260 wickets.
14. Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan all rounder has retired from Tests and T20Is on on September 26, 2024. In T20s, he took 149 wickets and scored 2551 runs . In Tests, he played 71 matches, scoring 4609 runs and taking 246 wickets. He started playing cricket on August 6, 2006. Shakib Al Hasan was a youngest captain.
