The license requirements depend on what type of HVAC work is being performed. For example, if you’re installing new air ducts in your home, they need to be attached to an existing furnace, and a contractor would need to have an Air Conditioning Contractor License and a Heating Contractor License. Here are five steps you can take if your HVAC system breaks down.

1. Check the Power Supply

Before you call a maintenance specialist, ensure the power supply is turned on. This can be necessary for specific HVAC systems to work. However, if the power supply is already on, the problem could be something else, like a broken down motor, or a problem with your gas lines. Try to turn off the HVAC system and turn it back on again to see if the issue gets resolved. If not, you must call an HVAC technician as soon as possible. 2. Check the Thermostat

Ensure that the thermostat is turned up to a few degrees above where you set it when you last used the HVAC system. 4. Inspect the Indoor Unit

5. Check the Filters

Check your filters to ensure they are clean and have not been damaged in any way. If there is a filter screen, check if it is clean or dirty, and replace it if needed. Preventing HVAC breakdowns is easier than you think. Ensure that your system is in tip-top condition before it breaks down, like getting all the filters changed, replaced, and inspected.
