Landscape-Art-PaintingsLandscape art can generally be defined as photographs or paintings where nature is the primary theme. Landscape artists’ paintings generally showcase views and scenes of natural surroundings. And their work is more meticulous than the work of other artists. Typically these paintings are created by using acrylic or oil painting and come in different forms. And in this blog, we are categorizing landscape paintings –

1. Representation Art

Representational art defined as art that represents a particular element in a landscape. It could be a portrait, figure, still life. In other words, this type of landscape paintings showcases something that exists in life. It does not have to be an entirely realistic depiction of the primary subject, as there are often different abstraction levels-representational art encompasses imagery that exhibits objects or a series of identifiable objects.

Some common examples of this form of landscape paintings include traditional landscapes, portraits, paintings featuring everyday scenes, mythological or historical paintings, etc. This type of art is essential because representational art offers a benchmark to assess the merits of the artists.  Moreover, this art also builds a strong foundation for visual art as it centres on the proficiency of the artist’s drawing, use of colour or tone, the portrayal of light, perspective, etc.

2. Impressionist Landscape Paintings

The history of impressionist landscape paintings is marked by the use of distinctive colours, exploration of nature and its lights, and the desire to capture the changing moment. Along with all these aspects, impressionist landscape painting’s history also speaks volumes about the emergence of Modern Art and focuses on the first impression or vision of the artists. These paintings move away from art canons and focus on reproducing what the artists have come across.

For instance, the lake at a particular time appeared pink; then the impressionist painter would make the lake appear pink. These artists are inspired by the need to change the world and reflect the development of technologies that are modernizing society. These artists moved out to capture the changing beauty of nature, beaches, mountains, and many other original subject matter.

3. Abstract Landscape Art

Abstract landscape paintings include both landscape and abstract. This technique involves the artists to be extremely creative with their expression by either changing the real-life scenery or by curating an imagined setting. Moreover, the abstraction can be accomplished without any specific significance. Artists can also represent a particular idea and express the inner emotions and feelings of the artists.

Abstract landscape paintings can provide the viewers with a unique perspective of viewing the natural environment that enables them to understand emotions more intensely. Some artists abstract a particular landscape by categorizing it into simple tones and shapes. Some abstract artists would go to the length to express the energy of nature and life in front of them.

Landscape paintings have a distinctive way of enhancing any space. Above are three different types of landscape nature paintings that you would come across.  These landscape paintings are available in different sizes, so choose the one that fits nicely on the wall and enhances the look.
